Could You Survive?

There is a great new show that you will like for many reasons. It is Survivor meets the Biggest Loser, only better.

Discovery Health's Could Your Survive? involves military instructors and married couples who have gotten out of shape, and a disaster where they must literally run for their lives.

I love it and hope you will too. Maybe you can gather your family in front of the TV little holiday motivation!

yeah i have seen that show. i wish i could get on it... im a former marine that had some health issues but am better now but in the process have gained ALOT of weight and just have lost the motivation to do anything about it. I think something like that would put me in the right direction. i think the reason im so Demotivated to do is because i was 150 pounds defined and now im 260 pounds and got out the marines over weight on october 24, 2008. yes it was do to medical conditions that i couldnt run or work out but now i wanna get back into shape for my wife and kids.. but dont know where to start.

Aaron, how come you don't get Nikki's Beach Bride DVD? :D Seriously, or any of her DVDs?

If you need free workouts, Stew Smith has free workouts. http://www.military.com/military-fitness/weight-loss/need-to-lose-40-lbs

Jeff's Combat The Fat workout has excellent motivation. http://www.combatthefat.com/

The Perfect Pushup gets muscle fast. You could do them up against a wall.

Do you have access to a stationary bicycle? You could do Stew's (brutal) cardio pyramids or an easy bicycling routine is: bike at slow-moderate speed for a 2 minute warm up, then go fast for 1 minute, then moderate speed for 1 minute, then slower speed for 1 minute for a total of 5 minutes. Do this every hour and build up to a total of 6. Adjust these times as needed.

Maybe you could lie on your back and do a bench press motion with dumbbells, or other movements with dumbbells or pull a resistance band with your hands or legs. If you twist the resistance band, for instance, when doing a pull down with a resistance band, the way Perfect Pullup has wrist rotation, it's even more effective.

Do leg lifts in all directions to work your abs. Even if you did a few reps of some of these: http://www.ab-core-and-stomach-exercises.com/abdominal-exercises.html they would eventually add up. Add ankle weights.

Stew Smith's TV Watcher's Workout book also has excellent beginner workouts.

Spread your workout throughout the day. Do a little bit at a time. Don't worry about your diet to start off.

Heck, if you need to borrow my Perfect Push up handles, I'll send them to you. Just let me know!
