Pre-Resolution Workout for Holiday Travel
We talked about the Challenges of Thanksgiving travel, food and fitness, and less than a month later, her are bombarded with holiday travel and parties again. Avoid making your New Year resolution about fitness if you just spend half an hour per day working some fitness into the fun. Here are some moves and video from my Fit Travel Workout DVD in an interview I did with New York 1 News. The video was shot around the world, from Chicago to China, so you can see all the places Santa will be visiting soon.… but you won’t have his belly!
Interview Excerpt:
“Her first favorite globe trotting exercise is a yoga move with a twist, the “wheel push-up” that works the arms and upper back and also give the abs a stretch.
‘You’ll lay down, feet right under your knees. Flip the hands so your fingertips reach toward your shoelaces. Hands are right by your ears,’ says Glor. ‘And then you slowly come up into a bridge, then come up all the way onto the hands. And if you want an extra move, you add the push-ups.’
Her next move is a side plank with a leg lift.
‘I call this one ‘wings, thighs and a six pack,’ because you are working your wings, your thighs and your six pack,’ says Glor. ‘You’re on your right elbow and forearm, you bend your bottom leg and then lift and lower the outer thigh.’

To put a little cardio into one’s travel time, try the jumping lunge series, which is good to do in smaller spaces like a guest room or hotel room.
‘The jumping lunge series is helpful because you are doing cardio but toning your legs and then your arms,’ says Glor. ‘I have you do bicep curls, triceps kick-backs and then upper arm shoulder reaches. So you are working your whole body but your heart rate is really getting up there and you are going to start to sweat.’
Hopefully with a workout like that, you can stay guilt-free all season long.”
